Kannada Movie ‘Suli’ Starring our Beloved ex-student Pragati Getting Positive Reiews

Posted on Updated on

Two weeks since its release, Kannada film ‘Suli’ is still garnering positive reviews from critics and moviegoers across the state.

The film, set in the picturesque locales of the Western Ghats of Karnataka, a few hours drive from Mangalore, is an emotional story set around the family of Buden Saheb, a villager, and how they get trapped in a symbolic whirlpool of emotions.

The movie stars veteran actor Srinath as well as Neenasam Jayaram, Adhvithi Shetty, Ashvithi Shetty, Susheelamma aaaaaaaaand… our own Pragati AS.. in the lead role.

Timesof India has this to say about the movie: “The story unfolds at its own pace, but when it does, one is drawn into the unfolding of the plot…”

The same review, which incidentally rated the move with 3 stars, was all praise for Pragati: “Pragathi as Shabana shows a lot of promise.”

Pragati as Shabana in Suli, which means ‘whirlpool’ in Kannada.

A 2013-15 batch passout of our Mass Communication department, Pragati showed brilliance on and off stage in her two years in MCMS dept. She was a popular RJ on Radio Sarang 107.8 FM, the Community Radio of St Aloysius College.

Besides being a good student with excellent academic record, people of St Aloysius College remember Pragati as a livewire on stage, with her ability to light up the stage and give a memorable performance, especially as a host.

“She has the ability to have the audience eat from the palm of her hand,” remembers Mr Vishal Nayak, our HOD. “She was star of the college day host team for two years and won BEST MC Award at ‘Sangam’ our Inter Departmental PG Cultural Fest… for two consecutive years!”

A hard worker to the core, Pragati has come this far on her own merits and will continue to rise to stardom in years to come.

Dept of Mass Communication wishes our talented ex-student all the best…
