Sahitya Academy Hosts Literary Forum on Konkani Poet Louis Mascarenhas

The Sahitya Academy, in association with the Konkani Institute of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), organized a Literary Forum dedicated to the celebrated Konkani poet, Louis Mascarenhas on 16th February 2024 at Robert Sequeira Block. Mr Henry Mendonca explained the purpose and aims of the academy, particularly its dedication to publishing the work of Indian authors and awarding them for their exceptional writing skills. ‘Life and Works of Louis Mascarenhas’, presented by Mr. Dolphy Casia, a well-known author and recipient of several Sahitya Academy Awards; ‘Prosody in Louis Mascarenhas’s Poetry’, presented by Mr. Melwyn Rodrigues. ; ‘Louis Mascarenhas as an Editor’, presented by Fr. Francis Rodrigues; and finally, ‘Louis Mascarenhas as the Playwright’, presented by Fr Alwyn Ser-rao. Rev Dr Melwyn Sunny Pinto acted as the moderator for these presentations. Ms Delvita Veigas conduct-ed the paper presentations. Dr Alwyn D’Sa Registrar, highlighted the importance of the occasion and outlined the key goals of the program and also shared details about previous programs that have been successfully conducted.
