For quite some time, artificial intelligence (AI) has captivated human curiosity while also instilling apprehension. It’s rapid advancement in recent times has prompted inquiries regarding it’s potential impact across various aspects of our existence. An especially fascinating area of inquiry involves examining the dynamic between AI and human creativity. Artificial intelligence tools have been developed to enhance human creativity. Content generators driven by AI can assist writers by suggesting ideas, refining language, and even generating text. Similarly, graphic designers utilize AI to create visually captivating designs based on their input. These tools complement human creativity, increasing its efficiency and accessibility. “AI is the new electricity. Just as electricity transformed countless industries, AI will reshape every aspect of our lives” says Mrs. Devishree Shetty , Asst Professor , MA Journalism and Mass communication, St Aloysius college, Mangaluru.

One of the most notable ways AI contributes to human creativity is through content generation. AI-powered tools assist authors, journalists, and content creators by suggesting ideas, refining language, and even generating text. These tools serve as invaluable assistants, providing writers with inspiration and helping them overcome writer’s block. By automating routine tasks such as grammar correction and fact-checking, AI frees up human creators to focus on higher-level aspects of their craft, such as storytelling and conceptualization.

However, despite its transformative potential, AI also poses ethical and existential challenges. “AI is not a substitute for human intelligence; it’s a tool that can be used to amplify human ingenuity” says Mr Abdul Rasheed,  Asst Professor , MA Journalism and Mass communication, St Aloysius college, Mangaluru.

Concerns about job displacement, privacy violations, and algorithmic bias have prompted calls for greater transparency, accountability, and ethical oversight in the development and deployment of AI technologies. Moreover, as AI becomes increasingly capable of emulating human creativity, questions arise about the nature of creativity itself and the role of AI in shaping cultural and artistic expressions.

In conclusion, artificial intelligence represents a paradigm shift in the way we approach creativity. Rather than viewing AI as a threat to human creativity, we should embrace it as a powerful tool that augments and amplifies our creative capacities. By leveraging AI to automate routine tasks, generate novel ideas, and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, we can unlock new realms of creativity and innovation that benefit society as a whole. However, as we harness the power of AI, we must also remain vigilant and ensure that it is deployed responsibly and ethically to safeguard human values and promote the common good.
